After founding the city of Udaipur,
Maharaja Udai Singh II decided
to enlarge Lake Pichola.
He had
then built the Badipol Dam for
this purpose. At present the lake
is 4 kms long and 3 kms wide.
However, Pichola Lake Udaipur is known
to have dried up in times of severe
drought in the desert state.

fact, tourists and locals have
often walked down to the Jag Mandir
and Jag Niwas (Lake Palace) situated

Udaipur, the palace is situated
on the scenic Lake Pichola. The
shimmering white marble of the
palace looks all the more captivating
in the midst of the azure waters
of the lake.

Mandir
Built by Maharaja Karan Singh
in 1615, this magnificent island
palace is situated on Lake Pichola.
Numerous cenotaphs enhance the
beauty of this extraordinary palace.
City Palace
Situated on a foreland of the
beautiful Lake Pichola is another
Tourist Attractions in Udaipur. The
City Palace is Rajasthan's largest
royal complex. It consists of
11 palaces, numerous balconies,
towers and domes. The lake and
nearby areas look fascinating
from the palace.
Jagdish
Temple
Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the
Jagdish Temple is the most-visited
holy place in Udaipur. Built by
Maharana Jagat Singh in 1651,
it is the largest temple in the
city.
