Jagdish Temple in Udaipur - The Jagdish Temple of Udaipur is known to
be one of the costliest creations
of its times. Built by Maharana
Jagat Singh between 1628 and 1653,
the Jagdish Temple cost him more
than Rs. 1.5 million.
Dedicated to Lord Jagannath, commonly
known as Lord Vishnu - the creator
of the universe, Udaipur Temple Jagdish
is best known for its Indo-Aryan
architecture. It is one of the
largest Vishnu temples in the
northern region of India.
This tourist attraction of Udaipur
is perched on a great height.
Spread across three storeys, Udaipur Temple Jagdish has 50 pillars in both
the first and second storeys.
On travel to Udaipur Jagdish Temple, tourists
need to climb a huge flight of
stairs to reach the temple. Two
giant stone elephants greet you
at the entrance. Jagdish Temple
houses a 79-feet high spire that
is beautifully decorated with
architectural ornaments of musicians,
dancers, elephants and horses.

and porch. The interiors look
stunning with intricate carvings
and friezes-adorned walls. The

shrines of other Hindu gods and
goddesses. The main shrine of
Jagannath is guarded by a massive
image of Garuda (Vishnu's carrier)
made of brass.
