Vijay Stambh in Chittorgarh

Among some of major Tourist Attractions of Chittorgarh is the Vijay Stambh or the Victory Tower. It was built in 1440 AD by Rana Kumbha to commemorate his victory over Mahmud Khilji, the ruler of Malwa.

The Vijay Stambh in Chittorgarh is a 9-storied structure that stands at an impressive height of 37 meters. All the stories are decorated with beautiful sculptures of Hindu deities that are indeed a wonderful sight to marvel at. Besides, the Vijay Stambh in Tourist Attractions of Chittorgarh is a fine example of the famed Rajputana style of architecture.

Just adjacent to the Vijay Stambh is a well demarcated area known as Mahasati. It is the very spot where the male members of the royal family were cremated. Visitors can also have a look at the sati stones that typify the sacrifices made by the women who committed sati by throwing themselves on their husbands' pyres.
