Travel to Ajmer - One of
the most important Tourist Attractions of Ajmer, Akbar's Palace in Ajmer was built
in 1570 AD by Emperor Akbar himself.
This small but exquisitely designed
fort served as a home for Akbar
during his religious and official
visits to Ajmer.
With two thick walls surrounding
it, Akbar's Palace was impregnable
to enemy attacks. Besides, this
impressive structure also lays
claim to an important historical
connection. The fact is that this
Mughal bastion was the very place
where the historic meeting between
Emperor Jehangir and Sir Thomas
Roe of the East India Company
took place.
Tourist Attractions of Ajmer was later converted
into a munitions house during
the British occupation of Ajmer.
It was even renamed as the "Rajputana
Arsenal" by the British.
A part of Akbar's Palace in Ajmer was converted
into a fine museum in 1908. Today,
visitors can almost see the history
of Ajmer coming alive in front
of their eyes as they tour the
museum. Indeed, the rich display
of arms and ammunitions at the
museum truly hark back the medieval
times.
Visitors to the Tourist Attractions of Ajmer
can also have a look at a wonderful
display of stone sculptures, exquisite
miniature paintings, objects d'art
and archaeological findings that
date back to the times of the
Harrapa and Mohenjodaro civilisations.
