Beaches of South India

The pristine beach of Kovalam lies in Kerala. This beach resort of Kerala is very popular with the domestic as well as international tourists because of its natural beauty. Originally this was a small fishing village with little industrial activity. Kovalam actually consists of three beaches. The southernmost is known as the Lighthouse beach, there is a Middle beach and the Third beach is in the north of the Ashok Radission Resort.

A wide rocky elevation on the beach has created a beautiful bay of tranquil waters ideal for sea bathing. The leisure options at this beach are ample and diverse. Apart from diverse water sport activities, one can also indulge in herbal body toning massages, special cultural programs and Catamaran cruising.

Varkala Beach is a tranquil and isolated sandy stretch where one can have a comforting beach holiday. One can enjoy the laid back atmosphere of Varkala Beach.

The mineral springs near Varkala Beach are considered to have medicinal properties and many people come here to drink and bathe in the water from the mineral springs. The Varkala Beach is also called Papanasam Beach.

The village of Mararikulam is tucked away behind a line of dense palms that rise like a green defense of the sands. Set amongst the coconut groves the Marari Beach is an ideal destination to spend holidays.

Marari offers endless miles of wonderful sand beaches backed by palms, where one can experience the local charm and tradition at it's best.

Marina beach, located on the eastern side of Chennai, is one of the most endearing beaches in India. itis one of the longest beaches in Asia and the second longest beach in the world.. The fine sandy beach extends from Fort St. George to Mahabalipuram. With its natural sandy beauty and spacious walkways and beautiful gardens, the beach is a major attraction for tourists visiting Chennai.

Kanyakumari is the southern most tip of India. It is the place of blending of the three oceans namely the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and the Indian ocean. Kanyakumari is a significant pilgrimage center, attracting several thousand pilgrims to its surroundings. The beach is a beautiful sight but it does not really offer one the opportunity to sunbathe on soft golden sands, or to play in the waves either. Its beauty and charm offers a welcome change to the tourists and pilgrims.

Andhra Pradesh has a long coastline with numerous sun kissed beaches with blue water caressing the golden soft sands. It is a thrill for the sun, sand & sea loving holidaymakers. Starting from Bheemunipatnam near Visakhapatnam down to Mypad in Nellore district, the coastline of Andhra Pradesh offers clean enjoyment to the sea bathers.
There are other famous beaches such as Manginapudi, Kakinada, Chirala, Kalingapatnam and Mypad.
