Bannerghatta National Park: (22 Km)

Those who have a penchant for wildlife safaris would do well to visit the Bannerghatta National Park which is located at a distance of 22 Kms. from the city. The park is among the most beautiful in Karnataka and there are some fabulous jungle lodges located within the peripherial areas of this enchanting wildlife sanctuary. Bannerghetta has rich diversity as far as wildlife species are concerned. The best way to explore the haunting wilderness of the park is by embarking on a jeep safari that takes visitors deep inside the park to witness the wildlife drama. From herds of elephants gracefully wending their way across the jungles to hyperactive monkeys jumping between tree trunks with their young ones tightly tucked in their bosom, it's all here at Bannerghatta.

Tipu's Palace:

This magnificent palace was built way back in the year 1791. The palace is truly elegant and is conspicuous by its gorgeous two-storeyed flamboyant wooden edifice . The palace with its gracefully carved pillars, arches and galleries was Tipu's Sultans much sought after summer palace.

Hesaragatta:

Hesaragatta is located at a distance of 25 Kms. from Tours in Bangalore India is a popular picnic spot. There are facilities for water sports and apart from boating one can also indulge in Wind Surfing. There is a Horticultural Farm within close proximity which too can be an ideal spot for fun filled picnics.

Ramanagaram:

Ramanagaram is the Mecca of Rock-climbers. If you have it in you to embark on a stint of Rock Climbing, this is the place to go. Located at a distance of 49 Kms south-west of Bangalore, Ramanagaram is much preferred by Rock Climbers not only from Bangalore but from elsewhere in India as well. The area is replete with a plethora of landscaped rocks which are ideal for rock climbing. The Bollywood blockbuster "Sholay" was shot at this picturesque location.

Janapada Loka:

Located at a distance of 53 Kms. from Bangalore, Janapada Loka is the melting pot of Kannadiga folk art and culture. It is well spread out on a sprawling 15 acres of beautifully landscaped vistas. The Janapada Loka comes under the aegis of the Karnataka Janapada Parishath. Inside the premises there is an art gallery, an open-air theatre as well as a museum that showcases the best of Karnataka's folk art and culture through artifacts and relics.

Channapatna:

Channapatna is a lively town located at a distance of 60 Kms south-west of Bangalore. It is renowned for its stunning lacquer ware and handcrafted toys made of finest quality wood. Channapatna is also the silk producing zone of Karnataka.

Mekedatu:

You will come across this fabulous Eco-Tourism spot which is replete with turbulent waters, scenic landscapes and virgin picnic spots all of which makes Mekedatu a fabulous eco-friendly destination. The swift flowing Cauvery river meanders across along a narrow ravine and passes through the undulating topography thereby creating a truly mesmerizing natural panorama. Mekedatu is 98 Kms. from Banglaore.

Nandi Hills:

Nandi Hills used to be Tipu Sultan's favorite summer retreat. Nandi Hills offers splendid mountain scenery and there is a vantage point called Tipu's Drop from where one can bask in the breathtaking views of the picturesque mountain landscape. Nandi Hills is 60 Kms from Bangalore city and the drive from Bangalore is indeed beautiful as one drives past the verdant Karnataka countryside.

Some of the other enduring landmarks of nandi Hills are the holy Yoga Nandishvara Temple, an exquisite Chola temple, Bhoganandishvara temple which is one of the finest Dravidian style temple and Muddenahalli which happens to be the ancestral place of Sir. M. Visveswari one of Karnataka's great engineering minds. Adventure activities like a ropeway and Para-Sailing are available at Nandi Hills.
