History
In the ancient ages Thrissur was an important center for trade in between India and the different parts of the world.
Thrissur was under Chera dynastic domination during the Sangam era. Rulers of the Kulashekara dynasty have ruled over Thrissur during the 9th and 12th centuries.
With the beginning of the 12th century began the growth of Perumpadappu Swarupam. Fierce wars were fought on the soil of Thrissur in the 14th and 15th centuries.
